One of AAUW Honolulu’s core missions is to serve the community through workplace and economic opportunities for women, who have often been underserved – this includes empowering women through undergraduate and graduate education.
We offer academic(link) scholarships for women in Hawaii who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate studies. In 2018, the scholarships we awarded $140,000 to qualified women in Hawaii who enrolled in colleges and universities. This scholarship is administered through the Hawaii Community Foundation.
The Tweet Coleman Aviation Scholarship(link) is awarded to one woman a year who is pursuing a career in aviation. A previous undergraduate or graduate degree is required.
We also offer scholarships to women in college in Hawaii to attend NCCWSL(link), AAUW’s national leadership conference(link) held in Maryland, usually in late May to June. The Grace Hopper Celebration of Computing (link) is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists, and it allows women in STEM careers, or who are interested in pursuing STEM careers, to network and further their opportunities; we offer(link) college women in Hawaii the opportunity to be among the industry leaders at the Grace Hopper Celebration.
